As soon as our family moved to our property outside of Blackfalds, AB, 16 years ago, we saw the potential for the celebrations and connections it could foster. We love where we live and take joy in sharing it with others. It has been a blessing to host events with our families, such as church campouts, vow renewals and our own daughters’ weddings. But our family felt that we wanted to share this beautiful venue and help bring other’s celebrations to life. Extending to the Blindman River, our quarter section property is the perfect setting for those big events in life that you want to share with your loved ones.
Meet Our Venue Team
Our dream of opening a wedding venue started when our second eldest daughter, Tamara, got married on our property. In the months leading up to their wedding, we loved planning, building, and decorating. This experience propelled us to open a wedding venue and event centre that allows couples, families, and friends to share and celebrate special moments.
River Valley Wedding Venue is a true family business, with our daughters Nicole and Tamara helping us along the way. They will help guide you on tours of our venue and start the process of planning your big event. The team at River Valley wants to help you create the perfect event, with every detail taken care of.
Darrell and Sue
We are Darrell and Sue Stang, the owners of River Valley Wedding Venue. We have been custom home builders for 23 years. Our design expertise and drive to provide the perfect outcome are brought to every event at River Valley Wedding Venue.
Our ideas and heart went into every aspect of this venue, including the design. Together, we created the initial drawings and sketches for the venue. It requires a keen eye for detail to plan the construction of custom homes and as well as events. And having planned weddings before, we understand how important your big day is to you.

Hi, I'm Nicole, and I’m probably going to be one of the first people you will contact. I handle all the media for River Valley Wedding Venue. Those posts you see on Instagram? That’s me.
I got married on the property in 2021, and I know what a unique location it can be for a wedding. If you have any questions about the venue or our services, I am more than happy to answer them and find solutions. From start to finish, I am here to help you through the whole process.
Along with River Valley Wedding Venue, I work with Central Alberta Youth Unlimited as their Events & Fundraising Coordinator, and I have my Bachelor of Theology in Youth Ministry.
Tamara
I’m Tamara, and I am a part of the River Valley Wedding Venue team. I’m here to help plan and create the decor for your wedding throughout the venue. You can also count on me to help with set up, take down and coordinating your big day. I am committed to building out every small detail in your wedding to make it perfect. This includes making sure everything is arranged the way you want it. Out of the group, I am probably the most orderly - I love to make lists and following through on whatever you ask for. When I am not working to create your dream event, I work as a Registered Nurse specializing in Palliative and Oncology.
I was married on the property in 2017, so I understand what a big impact the perfect venue can have on your wedding.
